Chỉ thân phận người con gái dễ bị người khác ngắm nghía, trêu ghẹo hoặc lợi dụng, như hoa nở ra để người ta hái. Thường dùng để than thân, ngậm ngùi về sự thiệt thòi của phụ nữ trong quan niệm cũ; ở dị bản này, từ “chơi” nhấn mạnh thái độ xem nhẹ, đùa bỡn.

Refers to the vulnerable position of women, who are easily admired, teased, or exploited by others, like flowers blooming only to be picked. It is used as a lament about women’s disadvantages in traditional society; in this variant, the wording stresses being treated lightly or toyed with.
